This rod is available for purchase; my asking price is $245.

I originally designed this rod for myself, but seeing as how I already have quite a few rods and cash is tight, I'll let this one go (I can always come back and build a clone later!)

Things I learned while building this rod

A very straightforward build! It was actually this rod, when still in progress, that gave Jerry the notion that indeed, you don't have to put a full wells grip on a heavier rod if you really don't like them! One particular note; having a lot of rubberized cork & burl cork in the grip dose add some noticeable weight to the rod; if you want to go light, stick with straight regular cork!

An overview of the 9' 7wt. that I originally started building for myself. The custom fighting butt. The Pac Bay A8 Woven Graphite Reel Seat.
A closeup of the custom grip. The Fuji Hook Keeper. A closeup of the "sparse" diamond wrap.
The Diamond Wrap on this rod, when viewed from the side. The upper inscription. The stripping guide.
The single foot snake guides reduce some of the weight on this rod...a good tradeoff considering the heavier nature of the grip. The oversized (large loop) Pacific Bay Tip Top.
