Comments

This was my first time using REC's Recoil Guides (the flexible, bendable guides). I was somewhat surprised to see the look of the Stripper Guides, but honestly, they do look nice once they're wrapped.

Things I learned while building this rod

This was a pretty straightforward build. The longest part was the reel seat, which took HOURS to hand ream to fit. From now on, I'll be trying to steer folks towards metal seats on the larger diameter rods...wood isn't very practical in the building process.

Craig also had me try to incorporate the "checkerboard" effect into the cork rings on the grip and butts. Personally, after doing one, I don't have any interest in doing it again...the resulting "look" while interesting wasn't really worth all the labor and effort involved.
