This trip was a 100% unplanned scouting trip with Adam and John from the office. Didn't even have the camera with to take some pictures of this relatively scenic spot. Access was beyond "easy" - we tried the section of the DuPage River that flows through the Churchill Woods Forest Preserve in DuPage county.

I've heard really good things about the DuPage River when it comes to smallmouth fishing, so I was eager to give it a shot. Adam and I pulled up, rigged up, and headed down to the river. Adam tossed some bright tube jigs and I opted for large flying bunny variations.

John arrived later and pretty much watched...Adam and I covered all sorts of good looking water. Other than a few tiny and unidentified fish, we didn't really see any action though! The water was beyond muddy and was WARM too! Other than shoreline structure, there wasn't much readily apparent other than algae floating on the water's surface and a couple partially submerged logs.

We really gave it a good effort but came away empty handed. I even threw a few poppers as evening turned to dusk. I *think* this may not have been the BEST section of the DuPage to try, seeing as it was relatively featureless and shallow in the spots I could probe with my rod, but maybe on a future in-office day we'll give this shot another go (and hopefully I'll get some pictures next time around).
