You'd think I would have learned by now that me and Indiana don't mix...1 fair 11" Coho doesn't break the curse in my book. Randy Cochran and I made it down to the Creekside Conservation Club Meeting (a total of 7 in attendence this month...we're gettin somewhere). For those who don't already know, well, drop Dave @ Creekside an email or phone call or something. Please, come down, we need people to get our plans rolling, and the payoff is really something special!
After the meeting I had to make good on a promise to Randy (OK, so it was the reason that tipped him over the edge into coming)...we'd do a little night fishin. Bart had suggested some good spots from the weekends prior where the Coho were stacked, but a 2 mile hike at night in Indiana probably isn't the safest idea. Dave suggested a closer spot that was supposedly holding fair numbers of fish - plus I've fished it before so I had a basic idea of what to expect.
Well, when we got to the water, at the tail of a pool, I broke out the spotlight and took a look. At the very lip we saw the water quivering..definitely a fish. Never one to leave a fish UNFISHED, I started casting. I suggested to Randy that he try tight on the banks...soon enough a fish moved out and revealed that there were at least 2 present.
NO HOOKUPS all night in this spot...we went downstream a bit, looking for a wingdam that was supposedly concentrating the Cohos. Well, NO FISH were there 24 hours later when we got there. #@$%@%().
Back up to the lip for one last shot at the fish...no longer visible in any capacity. Fishin' blind is great, but the water was um, 6" visibility maybe? If more than a couple fish were there, Randy and I surely never knew.
The Curse LIVES!
